DIY – Smart Automatic Dustbin Kit (Arduino Nano)
Build a hands-free, sensor-activated dustbin using this practical and educational DIY kit. Perfect for learning Arduino, sensors, and automation while improving hygiene at home or school.
Package Contains:
- Arduino Nano – 1
- USB Cable – 1
- Ultrasonic Sensor – 1
- Servo Motor – 1
- Breadboard – 1
- Breadboard Power Module – 1
- Jumper Wires (Male-Male & Male-Female) – 1 set
Working Principle
The ultrasonic sensor detects hand proximity and sends a distance signal to the Arduino Nano. The Arduino processes the reading and triggers the servo motor to open the lid. When the hand is removed, the lid closes automatically — a simple, hygienic, and educational automation project.
Implementation
- Connect Ultrasonic: VCC, GND, Trigger → D2, Echo → D3.
- Connect Servo: VCC, GND, Signal → D9.
- Wire the breadboard power module to supply stable 5V to modules.
- Upload the Arduino sketch (sample code available on the project page).
- Mount the servo to the dustbin lid and test proximity-triggered opening/closing.
